In the European music production landscape, the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland is well known for its long-lived Orchestra della Svizzera italiana (OSI), founded in 1935 in the Canton Ticino, which offers an important concert season each year, including concerts with internationally-acclaimed conductors and soloists, opera and dance co-productions, outdoor performances, film-concerts and summer festivals. www.osi.swiss/en/concerts/concerts

USI and OSI have entered a cooperation agreement to enhance their mutual and shared interests, promoting and encouraging therefore relations between the two cultural institutions. For 2019, the agreement includes, among other things:

  • reduced ticket price for USI students (10 CHF per concert);
  • reduced price tickets for USI faculty members, who from 2019 can benefit from the special prices reserved for members of the Amici dell’OSI club;
  • 30 free admittance tickets reserved for members of the USI community (on a ‘first come, first served’ basis: [email protected]) for the concert of February 28, 2019, of OSI at the LAC;
  • A large quota of free tickets for the Ludwig van Festival, at the LAC from June 7 to 9, 2019. A festival focused at young people seeking a modern approach to Beethoven, also through the disrespectful vision of the Argentinean composer Mauricio Kagel. Beethoven’s “odd-numbered” symphonies will be performed, with the spectacular presence of several choirs gathered for the performance of the famous Ninth Symphony. More information on how to find tickets for the Festival will follow in the spring.
