Employability

Future software engineers will make extensive usage of AI to boost the software development process. In this Master, students learn the foundational technologies behind AI for software engineering, they see many applications of AI to improve software development, and they experiment with AI for software development in practice. By combining core software engineering with AI, students will have increased career opportunities, targeting roles that require both advanced development skills and machine learning expertise (e.g., AI engineer).

Besides the expected high employability in industry, graduates will also represent the perfect candidate for pursuing a PhD degree at USI in one of the research groups of the Software Institute.

This information refers to the previous programme, the Master in Software and Data Engineering, which shares key courses and professors with the new Master in Software Engineering with AI.

  • Research summer internships for students - UROP Internships

The Faculty of Informatics encourages and promotes the talent of its Bachelor and Master students by offering them summer internships in academic research within the programme Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program - UROP.

Internships are extracurricular, and access is on a competitive basis. Students work one-on-one with an advisor to develop a deeper understanding of both the concepts taught during the semester and the research topic. Students considering continuing in academia should seriously consider applying for a UROP position.
