Excursion to Monte Generoso

Visit Monte Generoso and the restaurant Fiore di Pietra, created by the world-famous architect Mario Botta, one of the founding fathers of USI Academy of Architecture. The peak of Monte Generoso lies at 1704 meters of altitude; we will reach it after a 40-minute journey by cogwheel railway from Capolago through a fantastic landscape.
We will have an awesome panorama from the summit that includes a view of Lake Lugano, Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, and Lake Varese.
In the afternoon, a pleasant hike will lead the group towards the Generoso alps where the traditional cultural landscape of the Muggio valley is still well preserved. The walk unfolds on well-marked paths, but requires some surefootedness; the downhill altitude difference is approx. 250 m, the uphill one is 70 m; actual walking time approx. 3 hours. We recommend that you wear mountain shoes or boots, bring sun/rain protection and a sufficient supply of water.
