In order to help current students and recent graduates to find their way in the working world, many of our alumni shared their career story. Here the story of Pamela Ferrari, Deputy Head of HR Training and Development in EFG Bank in Lugano (CH). USI Degree: 4 years degree in Economics, 2003

How did you start your career?

I started my career thank to an internship published on the USI and Career website. It was with Corner Bank.

Why did you choose a career at EFG Bank?

I believe that being part of an organization that gives you the opportunity to design and implement projects makes your work concrete and shows your contribution to the strategy implementation.

What is your current role/duties?

In my role I am involved in key strategic projects with the aim to improve the organization such as Talent management, Leadership development, Performance management, etc.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career at EFG Bank?

Agility, curiosity, competence and passion. Always ask yourself why you are doing what you do, it is really important to keep in mind that your contribution is key for the success of the organization.

What are USI’s positive features and qualities?

Faculties, possibility to interact with professors, exchange with students and the dimension of the campus. At USI you are not a number, it isstudent-friendly university.

What competences and/or skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

The willingness to know more about a specific topic, the mindset, the structured way of studying and analyzing a subject.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

Always be modest, university is a good starting point to enter the working environment, but we always have to be eager to study and challenge ourselves.
