In order to help current students and recent graduates to find their way in the working world, many of our alumni shared their career story. Here the story of Santiago Abdala, Director Private Wealth Management in Portfolio Personal in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
USI Degree: Master in Financial Communication, 2007.

How did you start your career?

I have started as an intern at Julius Baer Lugano while writing my thesis.

Why did you choose a career at Portfolio Personal?

Because it offers a good opportunity to stand close to clients in a moment when it seems that there is going to be a lot of interesting things happening in the Country.

What is your current role/duties?

My duties consist in managing the relationships with clients.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career at Portfolio Personal?

Being a team player, able to manage client needs coordinating the solutions the company can provide.

What are USI’s positive featuresand qualities?

The great level of professors and the cool atmosphere. I would also mention the quality of the facilities.

What competences and/or skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

Financial knowledge, great friendships and multi language lessons.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

To be realistic and not to pretend to be paid for what you studied but for what you can offer to the company.
