A series of projects to envision the urban future of Piazza Molino Nuovo. The public exhibition dedicated to the area's redevelopment will be open until 16 March 2022, on the plaza of USI Aula Magna, West Campus Lugano.

The call for parallel studies launched in the spring of 2021. Four design groups were selected, composed of professionals who have drafted ideas and solutions to develop content and enhance the peculiarities of the area. The goal is to give the site a strong sense of public space and aggregation for the neighbourhood and the city and find suitable urban solutions.

The four groups - selected by a panel of experts are:

  • Studi associati SA (planning and urbanism, lead architect Felix Günther)
  • Studio habitat.ch (planning and urbanism, lead architect Francesca Pedrina)
  • Guscetti architetti (planning and urbanism, lead architect Giovanni Guscetti)
  • CONT-S (urban planning and architecture, lead architect Sabrina Contratto)

The area involved in the redevelopment is the central one, between via Trevano and the Madonnetta church, including Piazza Molino Nuovo and the city blocks up to via Zurigo.

The contents of the selection procedure are collected in a special publication available here

More details and in-depth information are available on the website of the City of Lugano
