USI students’ proposals and ideas: one student has reported to the Student Corporation the project Ecosia, a project that finances tree-planting initiatives worldwide through surfing the web. Ecosia is a search engine that allows users to help with reforestation by planting new trees in geographical areas subjected to deforestation and desertification, thus helping to improve the planet's health and promoting species' biodiversity.

Since the platform launch in 2009, it is estimated that Ecosia has helped plant more than 160 million trees around the planet. The non-profit company generates revenue through searches carried out by users on the platform and precisely thanks to clicks made on advertisements. To achieve its environmental objectives, Ecosia devolves the revenues from the "clicks" worldwide to organisations active in reforestation. The company also declares to be able to offset 100% of the carbon dioxide emissions caused by servers, IT structures and corporate activities (electricity and heating in offices, travel, etc.) thanks to its photovoltaic systems and further emissions offsetting activities.

If you wish to make Ecosia your primary search engine, visit the website https://www.ecosia.org/ and freely download.
