In order to help current students and recent graduates to find their way in the working world, many of our alumni shared their career story. Here the story of Massimo Tagliaferri, M&A Director for Maveria Advisory in Lugano. USI Degree: Master in Finance, 2019.

How did you start your career?

I started my career in Lugano in 2018. I was part of the Corporate Finance team of Patrimony 1873 for almost a year. In October 2019 I incorporated my own advisory company to fulfill my dream of becoming an entrepreneur early on. From 2021 I'm part of the team of Maveria Advisory.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

It was always the practical approach. They wouldn’t let you out in the job market without a glimpse of what it means to gather sloppy data, organise it, analyse it, make sense out of it and pitch your conclusions.

What competences and/or skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

To be honest, pretty much all of it.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

As you are making one of the biggest steps in your life in one of the worst times in recent history for young people, never lose hope. Listen to others, but not too much.
