To help current students and recent graduates navigate the world of work, several USI Alumni shared their career paths and career story. Here the story of Silvia Magni, Business Development Associate at AmplifyME in London (UK). USI Degree: Master in Finance, 2022.

How did you start your career?

I started my career as an Equity Research Analyst at Goldman Sachs, as part of the Global Investment Research Division. After a great early career experience there, I decided to take another direction and combine my passion for finance with my aspiration to teach and educate, and found the perfect place at AmplifyME.

Why did you choose a career at AmplifyME?

At AmplifyME we work on creating software simulations of finance roles to bridge the gap between theory and practice. We work with universities to provide students with real-work experiences and with financial institutions to find the best candidates in the market, and train early hires. Being able to share my experience and finance knowledge with young students is very rewarding for me and perfectly matches my passion for finance and my desire to teach and educate.

What is your current role/duties?

As part of my job I work on the development of our Corporate Finance simulations and I teach at universities across the UK and Europe, delivering hands on sessions to students on banking and markets. As an example, I have recently been teaching at Oxford University, University College London and Regent’s University, but also Bocconi University and IE Business School. I also work with financial institutions such as UBS, Morgan Stanley, Evercore and Citadel on the organisation of attraction events and training and assessment sessions.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

I had an amazing experience at USI, which equipped me with all the skills and knowledge necessary to land a job in finance and thrive with my career. Some of the highlights of the Master from my perspective are the opportunity to choose a specific minor, following own’s preferences to specialize in a specific field of finance, as well as the practical nature of many courses, which help students understand how they can apply in their future job the theory learnt in class.
