Eligibility
- Be a citizen of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan. (JSPS treats Taiwanese and Palestinian researchers in this manner.)
- Candidates must have obtained their doctoral degree within six years of the date the fellowship goes into effect.
The call is open to Swiss-based applicants with max. 6 years after PhD. Japanese citizens are not eligible.
Funding and duration
Funding for 2 postdoctoral researchers to carry out a 1-2-year research stay in Japan in any disciplines.
The amounts of financial support are as follows:
- Airfare: A round-trip air ticket (based on JSPS’s regulations)
- Maintenance Allowance: ¥362,000 per month
- Miscellaneous: A settling-in allowance of ¥200,000, overseas travel insurance.
Fellowships last from 12 up to 24 months and must start between 1 July and 30 November 2024.
