As part of the 'SEN-SI Special Educational Needs' project supported by Swissuniversities, the USI Equal Opportunities Service, in collaboration with SUPSI, is organising a training course for all USI and SUPSI teaching staff.

Course presentation

Teaching staff are confronted with heterogeneous groups of students at many levels, including those with special educational needs. The didactic choices adopted, more or less consciously, do not necessarily favour the learning of all, as the way of learning can be very different between one person and another. Through a workshop methodology one will become aware of certain aspects that can be adapted to the lessons in order to be able to personalise learning situations so as to respond more effectively to the needs of students.

Course programme

The training course is structured in two half days with the aim of providing an introductory overview of Special Educational Needs (SES) of students in learning contexts. Based on the application of Universal Design for Instruction (UDI) principles, the course aims to promote a shared reflection on these principles and to offer practical examples that promote inclusive learning, taking into account the different characteristics of all students in the teaching and learning process.

The sessions involve the presentation of theoretical concepts through dynamic and interactive activities, subgroup work and personal reflections. This approach will allow participants to gather and discuss concrete experiences of meeting students with and beyond Special Educational Needs, providing a practical and concrete context for the application of theoretical teachings.

Additional information regarding course content and teaching methods is described in the annex.
