Isabel Patricia Stark, Sr. Corporate Communications Manager, R&M

To help current students and recent graduates navigate the world of work, several USI Alumni shared their career paths and career story. Here the story of Isabel Stark, Sr. Corporate Communications Manager, Reichle & De-Massari (R&M) in Zurich (CH). USI Degree: Master in Corporate Communication, 2018.

How did you start your career?

I started at EssilorLuxottica as Junior Trade Marketing & Communications Manager. Due to capacity issues within the team, my focus shifted to Trade Marketing and Event Management entirely. I was promoted to be a Trade and Cross-Channel Marketing Manager about 1,5 years later. Along with the promotion my geographic focus shifted from Germany only to Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Another 1,5 years later, I switched departments and became a Category and Product Manager. In total I was part of EssilorLuxottica for 4,5 years. This year I joined R&M as Senior Corporate Communications Manager.

Why did you choose a career at R&M?

I wanted to expand my knowledge and skill in Corporate Communications and particularly focus on the topics of sustainability and employer branding. Both topics are my areas of focus in my current position.

What is your current role/duties?

My main tasks are to set up and implement an employer branding strategy and professionalize the communication around sustainability. Furthermore I am taking care of all Social Media channels including strategy and content planning.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career at R&M?

Apart from any company, having a clear goal in mind is crucial for a successful career.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

Organization, knowing my strengths and weaknesses, quickly engaging in a new topic.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

Think about were you want to be in the future, what is fun and fulfilling for you, and pick a job accordingly.
