Foundation Zeno Karl Schindler - Doctoral exchange grant

The Zeno Karl Schindler Foundation was created in Geneva by Zeno Karl Schindler's daughter, Jacqueline C. Schindler, in the name and memory of her departed father, an eminent engineer in electronic engineering and former CEO of the Schindler Holding, Hergiswil (NW), Switzerland.

These grants are to support collaborative inter-university cutting-edge research for students with top academic credentials studying towards an engineering degree (with engineering understood as the use of scientific principles for the design, construction or production of physical or virtual structures or systems)*, or towards a degree in all medieval disciplines, as well as towards a degree in digital humanities at the intersection of medieval disciplines and computer or data science.

Eligibility

  • Students must be pursuing a degree in eligible fields (engineering, medieval disciplines, digital humanities).
  • Collaboration must be between two universities in different countries.
  • Applicants must not receive any other source of funding, including assistant salaries.
  • High academic standing is required, typically in the upper tier for their institution(s).

Funding and Duration

  • Duration: 6 to 12 months.
  • Grant: CHF 2,500 per month for local living expenses at the hosting university or research institute.
  • Additional funding: Flat rate economy-class return airfare/train ticket from home to hosting university.
  • Final installment: CHF 2,500 paid upon receipt of a statement from the thesis advisor confirming successful completion and receipt of the electronic copy of the thesis.

Timeline of the Call

  • Application deadlines: May 1st and November 1st each year, at 23:59 (Swiss time).
