How did you start your career?
I began my career after discovering an internship opportunity at Cornèr Bank through USI’s career portal. The position immediately caught my attention as it closely matched both my academic background and professional goals. After successfully completing the selection process, I was offered a 12-month internship within the Investment Strategies office. Following the internship, I was offered a permanent position.
Why did you choose a career at Cornèr Banca?
I chose to start and continue my career at Cornèr Bank because it is a solid and well-established institution with a strong local presence. Working in a family-owned bank has given me the chance to grow and learn from experienced professionals in the field. Furthermore, I appreciate the collaborative and client-focused environment, which combines stability with a personal approach.
What is your current role/duties?
I currently work as an Investment Advisor. In this role, I support and advise private clients on their investment portfolios, managing advisory mandates and monitoring performance over time. I develop investment proposals based on market analysis and participate in client meetings to review results and discuss strategies. I am also part of the Bond Selection Committee, where I contribute to choosing and analysing investment grade bonds.
In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career at Cornèr Banca?
A combination of technical expertise and attention to detail with a clientoriented mindset and a collaborative attitude. Moreover, being part of a family-owned and locally rooted institution means that relationships, trust, and long-term thinking are highly valued.
What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?
I particularly valued the balance between theory and practice. The courses provided a strong academic foundation while allowing me to apply what I learned through group work, case studies, and practical projects. Collaborating with classmates on real-world problems helped me develop teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills.
What competences and skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?
The master provided a solid foundation in investments, structured products, derivatives, and portfolio management, which I now apply daily when advising clients and analyzing markets. I also developed strong analytical and quantitative skills through courses and projects involving financial analysis, company valuation, and the use of tools such as Bloomberg.
What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?
My advice is to stay curious and open-minded, take every opportunity to learn and grow, build meaningful relationships, and show initiative.
