The Carlo Cattaneo Association and USI Institute of Italian Studies have organised an encounter to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Francesco De Sanctis, the founder of the Italian literary historiography, famous author of the "History of Italian Literature" (1870-' 71).

The conference "Francesco De Sanctis between Italy and Switzerland in the bicentennial of his birth” will be held on Thursday, November 16, at 5 p.m. in the Auditorium on Lugano campus, and it will host Prof. Emma Giammattei from the University Suor Orsola Benincasa di Napoli, Dr. Fernanda Gallo and Prof. Giacomo Jori, both from USI.

Prof. Gianmattei will discuss about the presence of De Sanctis's work in the library of Benedetto Croce, Dr. Gallo will talk about "Francesco De Sanctis exile in Zurich" and Prof. Jori about "The Tasso of De Sanctis".
