Many studies believe that important changes are taking place in the geological, chemical and biological morphology of the earth. The United Nations estimates that 65.3 million men, women and children are on the move because of environmental disasters, which also generates conflict and persecutions. Of these, 24 million have reached areas where they are confronted with worlds they do not know and from which they are not able to escape. Will these conditions evolve towards new solutions? What about us? Are we going to be part of a new era? Will we be able to make some of the visionary projects our own and overcome the transformation that are taking place?  Are we going to be defenseless residents of a planet with diminishing resources, increasingly unequal demographic developments, in a hostile environment?

To reflect on these important questions, the association Nel "Fare arte nel nostro tempo" has organised the series "Visions in dialogue" that will take place in 2018 and 2019, featuring important speakers from different cultural, artistic, and scientific backgrounds.

Marc Augé, one of the most significant thinkers of contemporary anthropology, will converse with Roberto Antonino on Thursday, November 20 at Studio 2 RSI in Lugano Besso at 6:30 pm. The event is organised in collaboration with RSI Rete Due and CORSI.

A series of conferences will also be held on Saturday, November 24 in collaboration with USI featuring Ambassador Pio Wennubst, Biologist and Oceanographer Gilles Boeuf, the Director of the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana Mons. Alberto Rocca, the art historian, former curator of the Musée national d'Art moderne and the Centre Pompidou Camille Morineau, the Director of MASI Tobia Bezzola, the Director of the Fondazione Brescia Musei Luigi Di Corato, the art historian, Director of the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities Angela Tecce and the coordinator at USI of the Fondazione Science et Cité and head of the Ideatorio Giovanni Pellegri. The events will be held in the Lugano campus auditorium from 10:45 am to 4:30 pm with welcome remarks from Mayor of Lugano Marco Borradori and USI Rector Boas Erez.
