How can I register and validate my curricular internship?
- Check the official guidelines of your study program.
- Check the requirements table (minimum duration, period, workload percentage, academic tutor).
- Register and manage the internship through the Mobility Online platform.
- If in doubt about the documentation, you can use our official templates.
Can I complete multiple separate internships to reach the curricular requirement?
Yes, it is possible, provided that:
- Each part lasts at least 1 month (100%) or equivalent.
- Each internship is registered individually in Mobility Online.
- The conditions comply with your program’s guidelines.
- You have received formal approval from your academic tutor.
ECTS credits will be assigned only after completing the required months for your program.
- Documents for the internship
You can use our official templates.
Do I need both an internship agreement and an employment contract?
No, just one of the two:
- The internship agreement is only needed if requested by the company.
- It must be requested via Mobility Online by uploading the agreement, fully completed and signed, including the insurance sections and USI will countersign the agreement.
- The University, as a legal entity, cannot assume insurance obligations. Therefore, if not covered by the host organization, both accident insurance and third‑party liability (RC) are the student’s responsibility.
Can I use an agreement from another university?
Yes, you can upload it to Mobility Online as a contract.
Note: if USI’s signature is not required, the document counts as a contract, not as an internship agreement.
Can I request an internship agreement after I have graduated?
Yes, you can request an extra‑curricular internship agreement up to 12 months after your graduation date.
- You must request it via Mobility Online by uploading the agreement fully completed and signed, including the liability (RC) and accident insurance sections, at least 3 weeks before the internship start date and USI will countersign the agreement.
Which documents can the Career Service provide me for the residence/work permit?
- If your internship is under 15 hours per week (35%) during the semester or full-time in July and August, you can download the certificates directly from GeStu.
- For internships exceeding 35% and taking place during the semester, you can request a letter certifying the curricular internship through Mobility Online, after uploading the contract or agreement.
- The letter will be issued only if the documents are complete.
- It is the student’s responsibility to verify and ensure they have the correct documentation and permission to work.
- You must submit the documents to the Migration Office at least 2 weeks before the start of the internship.
- Timelines and deadlines
Do I have to wait until the end of the internship to request validation?
No. You can proceed with the validation phase once you have reached the minimum duration required by your program.
What is the deadline for internship validation?
Submit all documentation at least one working week before your graduation date to ensure ECTS assignment in time.
