"The commodities sector is often taken for granted, but it's the crossroads through which everything passes," says Paolo Kauffmann, CEO and founder of Matherika Group.
After completing his studies in economics, Paolo Kauffmann trained at a London broker, with a long period spent on the metals desk. As early as 1994, at a young age, he visited the pit of the London Metal Exchange, a melting pot of metals and alloys since 1877, and he was deeply fascinated by its history.
"Ours is a beautiful sector at the crossroads between finance and industry", says Paolo Kauffmann, and "it's always about understanding where the market is going and acting".
Kauffmann will bring his experience in commodities and the industrial world, and share his vision of the world of work in the financial markets with young students, inspiring them with his insights and career journey: do you feel more a prop trader or a derivatives sale?
He will talk about the history of Kommodities Partners, a recognized leader in Switzerland's financial landscape, based in Mendrisio and authorized by FINMA.
Kommodities Partners is specialized in hedging operations aimed at managing the risk of fluctuations in commodity prices, with a 3.5 $ Billion of metals traded on London Metal Exchange.
It provides clients with the use of the latest technologies, such as AI and a proprietary risk management platform that is continuously updated with timely internal research.
Kommodities Partners develops customized quantitative models for clients, by "aligning with probabilities”, with the support of a young quant researcher.
“I love the financial markets because like on a sailboat it is not possible to go against the wind but you have to take advantage of what is there to go where you want."
Paolo Kauffmann, CEO Matherika Group
