On September 7, L’ideatorio of USI Università della Svizzera italiana inaugurated its new exhibition center in Cadro, near Lugano, where schools and the public can now enjoy the many activities organised, like space travel and the exploration of the human brain. There will also be workshops and ateliers on robotics or tinkering, a modern educational method that allows children to learn STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) while playing. All of these will be enriched by a programme of events and meetings open to all.

With its center in Cadro, USI intends to consolidate its presence in the area, creating a new cultural space for discussion on current issues in order to promote dialogue between science and society, with particular attention to young people, families and schools.

Since 2005, L'ideatorio has been promoting scientific culture through original forms of encounter with citizens and schools. This work has been carried out in close collaboration with Science et Cité, the competence centre of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences, of which it is a regional branch, and the public schools of the City of Lugano. In recent years, the L’ideatorio has registered more than 150,000 visitors at its many exhibitions and with that in mind, the City of Lugano decided to allocate the spaces of the former town hall of Cadro. Th

The center will be open for schools from Monday to Friday, and for the public on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
