Following the Protection Provisions (always updated at this link), USI has put in place a detailed procedure in case a member of the community (student or employee) tests positive for COVID-19. Everyone should get acquainted with such measures. A brief overview is provided below to ensure a smooth and responsible academic year.

Anyone who tests positive for the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), in addition to carefully follow the instructions they will receive from the health authorities concerning themselves and their contacts, must:

  • if the test was taken outside of Switzerland, immediately report to the Office of the Cantonal Doctor of Canton Ticino: [email protected], attaching a copy of the COVID-19 test with positive result together with a telephone number where you can always be reachable
  • immediately report to [email protected].

This will allow, in strict respect of individual privacy, the optimal management of the situation by the cantonal health authorities and the Dean of the Faculty, or the HR administration.

Health authorities are in charge of all the measures to be followed, and they will inform all parties directly involved. USI Management will evaluate based on the indications provided by the authorities whether and how to communicate the case within the community.

Thanks to the hybrid learning model adopted for the fall semester 2020-21, students who are unable to attend courses on campus will have the opportunity to follow the classes online without missing any lecture. Employees will decide with their coordinators the best work modalities according to the circumstances.
