The announcement of the winning book is scheduled for Tuesday, 21 November 2023 at the Résidence de France in Berne in the presence of the French ambassador and Didier Decoin, president of the Académie Goncourt.

The jury will be composed of three USI students from the Sectorial French course of lecturer Dr Regina Bollhalder Mayer. The evening will be an opportunity to highlight their work.

The novels in the finals are:

  • "L'échiquier", Jean-Philippe Toussaint, Éditions de Minuit
  • "Sad Tiger", Neige Sinno, P.O.L
  • "Croix de cendre", Antoine Sénanque, Grasset
  • "Suite inoubliable", Akira Mizubayashi, Gallimard
  • "Les conditions idéales", Mokhtar Amoudi, Gallimard

The Choix Goncourt de la Suisse prize is sponsored by the French Embassy in Berne. It aims to contribute to promoting French-language literature and disseminating the pleasure of both critical and disinterested reading of contemporary works. It is linked to the famous French literary prize awarded by the Académie Goncourt, the "société littéraire" brainchild of the writer Edmond de Goncourt, one of the leading figures - together with his brother Jules - of the French cultural scene in the second half of the 19th century, a friend of authors such as Émile Zola, Gustave Flaubert and Guy de Maupassant.
