Giorgio Pompilio, Deputy Consul General of Switzerland in New York

Giorgio Pompilio was born in Lugano, in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. He graduated from the University of Fribourg’s School of Law and became a licensed lawyer in Ticino. In 2002, he entered the diplomatic service of Switzerland. He’s been posted to different functions in Bern, Buenos Aires and Paris. In Paris, he was Head of Communication and Judicial Affairs. In Bern, he’s served as Head of the Diplomatic Posting Section (responsible for diplomatic transfers) and as Deputy Head of Communication in the European Directorate. Since the summer of 2015, Giorgio is posted in New York, where he initially shared his actual position with his wife Katharina. Prior to moving to New York, Giorgio served as Head of Division Projects on the board of Presence Switzerland, the entity within the Swiss Foreign Ministry responsible for Public Diplomacy activities and communication surrounding Switzerland abroad.
