2023 has been a year of very positive results for the Università della Svizzera italiana: a hundred students more across our Bachelor, Master, PhD and continuing education programmes and around 27 million francs of funding obtained by researchers working on the Lugano, Mendrisio and Bellinzona campuses.
Moreover, all 47 students who completed the first edition of USI Master of Medicine also successfully passed the federal examination, making them eligible to practice medicine. This is Ticino's first significant contribution to the shortage of doctors in Switzerland.
But USI is already looking to the future: the milestones for the year to come are the draft of a new university plan for 2025-28, the introduction of a Code of Ethics, and the collaboration to create an increasingly inclusive and welcoming study and work environment.
