Key data on mobility
USI participates actively in student exchange programmes.
Over the years, the number of USI students and of students from partner universities who spend a period of study abroad has remained constant. In the academic year 2020-2021, in spite of the pandemic, the previous year's figures were essentially confirmed altogether, with an increase in outgoing students (103 compared to 91 the previous year) and a decrease in visiting students (80 compared to 105 the previous year).
For the first time, the majority of USI students (68%) undertook a mobility period under the Swiss programme, instead of the SEMP programme. The reason is to be found in the pandemic which led to the need to relocate many students to other Swiss universities because they were unable to leave for their chosen destination.
The USI faculty with the highest number of outgoing and incoming students was Economics.
