The Equal Opportunities Service launches its first newsletter, a channel dedicated to projects, initiatives and topics on equal opportunities, inclusion and valuing diversity offered and implemented to promote the principle of equal rights and opportunities. Below is the message from Professor Sonja Hildebrand, Prorector for Sustainable Transformation and Equal Opportunities.
It is with great enthusiasm that we present to the entire community the first edition of the Equal Opportunities Service newsletter dedicated to projects, initiatives and topics of equal opportunities, inclusion and valuing diversity offered and implemented to promote the principle of equal rights and opportunities.
This space was created with the aim of informing, inspiring and promoting an open dialogue on the fundamental themes/topics that USI will be addressing in the four-year period 2025-2028, starting from the objectives of USI's Strategic Planning 2025-2028 to render USI more diverse (‘USI più diversa’) and the new Action Plan for Equal Opportunities, Inclusion and Diversity at USI 2025-2028.
Consistent with the sustainable development goals of the UN 2030 Agenda, the Prorector for Sustainable Transformation and Equal Opportunities, which is responsible for coordinating and promoting all research, teaching and third-mission initiatives and activities in the field of interest, is committed to promoting a policy and culture of responsibility with respect to environmental, economic and social sustainability.
Equal rights and opportunities, the promotion of an inclusive and non-discriminatory environment, and the dissemination of an ethical culture of Respect, Honesty, Reliability and Responsibility, the cardinal principles on which USI's Code of Ethics for the Protection of Personal Integrity is based, are identified within the Proctorate as crucial elements of social and economic sustainability.
Equal opportunities and the ethics of respect are not just principles to be respected, but values to be cultivated on a daily basis, to ensure that every person has the same opportunities for growth, development and participation.
In each issue of the newsletter you will find insights, initiatives, events and success stories on equal opportunities. It will also be an opportunity to share projects, ideas and opportunities and to stimulate dialogue with the entire USI community on our topics.
We invite you to follow us, to participate with suggestions and article proposals and to spread our message.
