11 August 2025
Starting from the 2025-26 academic year, the interfaculty elective course “Interdisciplinary Approaches to Gender and Diversity”, coordinated by the USI Equal Opportunities Service, will become an Alpine Seminar offered by the House of sustainability. The new program will deepen the themes of social sustainability, equal opportunities, inclusion, and the promotion of diversity.
This new format will offer an immersive learning experience, combining the interdisciplinary study of topics related to equal opportunities, inclusion, and diversity within a natural and sustainable context. The initiative aims to foster an open and critical dialogue, encouraging innovative reflections on contemporary social challenges in an environment that promotes connection with the Alpine territory.
Organized as a 2.5-day residential seminar, the courses will be open to all USI Bachelor students, according to the modalities established by the individual Faculties. The interfaculty perspective will encourage encounters between students from different disciplinary backgrounds, creating a fertile and enriching space for discussion thanks to the diversity of sensitivities and viewpoints.
In the 2025-26 academic year, the following two seminars will be offered:
- Social Sustainability – From Wednesday, 12 to Friday, 14 November 2025.This seminar will explore the interconnections between human and non-human beings, with particular attention to the impact of gender, caregiving work, and the balance between private and professional life on daily life. The role of healthy and inclusive relationships as levers to support the transition toward a sustainable world focused on collective and planetary well-being will be examined in depth.
- Equal Opportunities – From Wednesday, 15 to Friday, 17 April 2026.This seminar will focus not only on planetary boundaries but also on the challenge of building a society that guarantees equal opportunities, inclusion, and the promotion of diversity. Through experiential activities and discussion moments, participants will explore ways to recognize and overcome stereotypes, prejudices, and inequalities, promoting welcoming and valued environments.
The integration of equal opportunities, inclusion, and diversity into the House of sustainability’s educational offerings aligns with the social sustainability goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, which include the promotion of gender equality, reduction of inequalities, and creation of inclusive and peaceful societies.
The program represents a significant step forward in promoting innovative and integrated educational approaches that combine theory, practice, and sustainability in a unique experience of personal growth and learning.
