In order to ensure an inclusive learning environment, the new Directive on inclusive teaching and the management of training courses and exams for students with recognized special educational needs recommends that USI teaching staff apply the principles of Universal Design for Instruction (UDI) wherever possible.

These principles aim to adopt flexible and differentiated teaching methods and assessment methods with the goal of responding as much as possible to individual needs and ensuring equal access to educational programs.

To provide concrete support to teaching staff in adopting compensatory measures and integrating UDI principles into teaching, the document “Advice and best practices for inclusive and accessible university teaching” is available for consultation and download via the appropriate link.

As further support, the eLab team is also available for individual consultations, which can be booked via the Ticketing 4me platform (eLab Service --> teaching consultation --> teaching design --> request for consultation on accessibility and inclusion in teaching).

There will also be two practical training workshops dedicated to the application of Universal Design for Instruction (UDI), organized on the following (alternative) dates:

  • April 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in person – Room 253;
  • May 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in person – Room 253.
