Film screening: La prodigiosa trasformazione della classe operaia in stranieri
Equal Opportunities Service
Date: 24 March 2026 / 17:30
Auditorium USI Palazzo Principale
On the occasion of Anti-Racism Week, which will take place from 23 to 27 March 2026, the Equal Opportunities Service and the International Relations and Mobility Service of USI, together with the Gender and Diversity Service of SUPSI and in collaboration with the Lugano Human Rights Film Festival, are screening the film ‘La prodigiosa trasformazione della classe operaia in stranieri’ by Samir Jamal al Din (2024).
The event is part of the project ‘Oltre lo sguardo’ (Beyond the gaze), a multidisciplinary initiative that addresses the issue of racism in the workplace through scientific, educational, cinematographic and literary tools. The title summarises the essence of the project: an invitation to overcome a superficial perception of others in order to grasp their complexity and humanity.
The initiative involves the academic communities of USI and SUPSI, offering tools for analysis and reflection on the dynamics of racism, particularly in the world of work. The proposed activities will also be open to the general public.
The screening will take place on Tuesday, 24 March at 5:30 p.m. in the Auditorium of the USI Main Building in Lugano. The film will be shown in Italian with English subtitles.
This will be followed by an open debate with the participation of Vega Tescari (Academy of Architecture; Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society, USI) and and Spartaco Greppi (Professor at SUPSI, currently involved in the initial and continuing training programmes of the DEASS).
An aperitif will be offered at the end of the evening.
