In this lecture I will suggest that different paradigmatic assumptions shape the way we understand and conduct qualitative case study research. I will discuss the purpose, rationale, quality standard and style of writing in qualitative case study research under qualitative positivism, interpretivism and critical realism. I will conclude by suggesting the need for coherence in our theorising and writing practices in case study research.
