In order to help current students and recent graduates to find their way in the working world, many of our alumni shared their career story. Here the story of Alessandra Lionetti, Assistant Director Relationship Manager for Moody's Analytics in London (UK). USI Degree: Master in Marketing, 2013.

How did you start your career?

I have started my career in a start-up company called THE Suite Club in Milan (I). It was a web-based company in the Hospitality Sector. My role was to identify the daily communication strategies and also manage Key Account Portfolio (Small-Medium Hotels cluster). After eleven months I have decided to move and work for an International Brokerage Company in Milan called Marsh. My role was Business Development Specialist and my task was to do prospecting activities aimed to engage new clients and create new business opportunities for the company. After this experience, I got the opportunity to join American Express in Madrid (E) as Account Manager and I had the chance to manage a book of existing clients and improve my sales skills within a key account role. Finally, two years ago I got a new and exciting opportunity at Moody's Analytics and moved to London.

Why did you choose a career in Moody's Analytics?

I think that Moody's Analytics is a good company to work for because it cares a lot about people development and offered me the opportunity to build my career in an international environment where I had the chance to grow fast based on my performances.

What is your current role/duties?

I’m responsible for managing a selection of Moody's Analytics client relationship in EMEA specifically Italy, UK, Portugal, Switzerland for the Content Licensing Group. My role is to support my existing clients but also seek for new opportunities to extend my customer base.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career in Moody's Analytics?

Being proactive and dynamic and being prepared to face new challenges everyday.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

What I liked most was to be surrounded by a multicultural environmentand the practical study approach. At USI I had the chance to work closely with my colleagues in teams, prepare projects and do presentations and I think this is a way the University should prepare students by giving them the tools to be ready for the workplace environment.

What competences and/or skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

I’ve improved my ability to work in a team and my ability to prioritize and be structured and organized. I also had the opportunity to broaden my perspectives and mindset thanks to the incredible exchange programs in Copenhagen Business School where I had the chance to meet and study with colleagues from all over the world and coming from the top and best universities worldwide. This experience had for sure an impact on my professional career by giving me the chance to work in different countries and markets.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

My advice is to take advantage of all the opportunities USI offers to students such as webinars, events, projects or exchange programs. This is the phase of your life where you can absorb and experience more so try to be open minded and try every day to evolve yourself as a person and future employee.
