Here the story of Aldo Gabriele Di Rosa, Software Engineer for Ex Machina in Lugano (CH). USI Degrees: Master in Software & Data Engineering, 2020 and Bachelor of Science in Informatics, 2018.

How did you start your career?

During the last semester, when I did the master thesis in 2020, I started sending curriculum vitae around Lugano. I had two different job opportunities when I discussed the master thesis, also if the world was in pandemic situation. When I completed my studies, I did different job interviews and I decided to accept the Exmachina job offer because I was impressed by the colleagues and the environment.

Why did you choose a career in Ex Machina?

I choose to start my work experience at Exmachina because I think that is one of the most important IT company in Lugano and also because I have the opportunity to work on interesting projects and learn a lot of new technologies.

What is your current role/duties?

I'm employed as Software Engineer, currently working as Frontend developer.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career in Ex Machina?

Have a lot of desire to learn, but also be prepared for team work.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

The most useful qualities I trained during the study programme are the team work and the predisposition to quickly learn new technologies.

What competences and/or skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

The most important skill acquired during the USI study program is the team work.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

Don't be afraid to get involved.
