Paolo Montemurro, Founder and CTO, Blockchain Army

To help current students and recent graduates navigate the world of work, several USI Alumni shared their career paths and career story. Here the story of Paolo Montemurro, Founder and CTO of Blockchain Army in Milan (I). USI Degree: Master in Finance, 2020.

How did you start your career?

I started my Master in Digital Finance journey in 2018, without any coding or finance backgrounds, and completed it in 2020 having acquired strong analytical skills, and being able to code complex software.
Given my positive experience at USI, I decided to stay longer and had the chance to work as Prof. Gruber's assistant. In addition to provide support in education and research, I had my first concrete blockchain experience by curating the Algorand USI node.

One year after I came back to Italy to start my entrepreneurial journey, by founding Blockchain Army, a web3 technology and marketing agency.
Currently the business is running good, collaborating with well known players in the market (such as Dextools and TrustSwap), and counting 10 collaborators.

What competences and/or skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

I have to thank USI big time for the skills (specially the technical ones!) and mindset acquired over the course of the master. Definitely the right choice for me.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

My advice to students entering the job market is not to choose the first job for the salary, but rather by the growth (personal, career, connections) that it offers.
