How did you start your career?

I applied for a PhD position during the second year of my Master because I wanted to keep working with my supervisor at the time, a visiting professor at USI.

Why did you choose a career at University at Buffalo?

I wanted to start doing research at the intersection of Philosophy and Computer Science, more precisely in the areas of Applied Ontology and the Semantic Web.

What is your current role/duties?

I am currently pursuing a doctorate, and thus doing research and taking classes, while at the same time being a Teaching Assistant.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career at University at Buffalo?

The analytic skills proper of someone with a philosophy background, that shine in disciplines such as logic and metaphysics, are of great help in fields related to computer science, especially when conceptual analysis is required.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

The MAP program at USI gathers renowned experts from all around the world and offers a first-level education that brings the students in touch with cutting-edge research in the areas of interest of the program. It further allows students a good degree of freedom in terms of choosing their own path and is led by a competent team that is close to their needs.

What competences and/or skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

The MAP allowed me to develop skills in writing essays, developing and structuring argumentations, logic, as well as taking computer science classes which allowed me to get a better interdisciplinary background.
