To help current students and recent graduates navigate the world of work, several USI Alumni shared their career paths and career story. Here the story of Edoardo Trullo, Product Specialist at Google in Dublin (IE). USI Degree: Master in Management, 2021.
How did you start your career?
I began my career during the final semester of my master's degree, joining PwC (2020, Milan) as a Digital Risk Solutions Consultant. With a strong belief in the consulting industry as an ideal starting point, I spent nearly two years at PwC honing skills in data analysis, reporting, and team management. Driven by a passion for technology, I transitioned to the tech sector, ultimately fulfilling a dream of joining Google in 2021, renowned as one of the top companies to work for.
Why did you choose a career at Google?
I had the dream of Google for several compelling reasons. Firstly, the company's remarkable track record of achievements and impact on people's lives resonates deeply with me. I wanted to contribute to an organization dedicated to improving processes and making a meaningful difference in the world. Moreover, Google's culture of innovation, where change is embraced and transformative products like Google Photos, Maps, and Drive are developed, is highly motivating.
I was inspired by the opportunity to be part of a dynamic environment that fosters creativity and consistently pushes boundaries. Finally, my interactions with individuals from Google and my visit to some offices have solidified my desire to join a company with a diverse team and a strong commitment to openness, creativity, and inclusion. I am enthusiastic about the prospect of contributing to such a vibrant and inclusive workplace.
What is your current role/duties?
I am currently part of the Google Global Customer Care team which is a solution-generating force that helps our sales teams and advertisers. These solutions need to be scalable to support millions of customers worldwide. In addition to troubleshooting on the customer side, we work with Sales, Product and Engineering teams within Google to develop better tools and services to improve our products based on the evolving needs of our users. As a cross-functional and global team, it's our job to help keep the lights on and the ads fresh. My current product area is Google Shopping, hence I support and help Merchants advertising their products online.
In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career at Google?

- Problem solving: analyze complex situations, identify obstacles or challenges, and develop effective strategies or solutions to overcome them. This involves critical thinking, creativity, resourcefulness, and often collaboration with others to address issues and achieve desired outcomes;
- Customer Centricity: approach that prioritizes the needs, preferences, and satisfaction of customers above all else. It involves orienting all aspects of a company's operations, products, and services towards understanding and meeting customer expectations effectively.
- Product knowledge: comprehensive understanding and familiarity with the features, specifications, benefits, and applications of a particular product or range of products offered by a company.
