How did you start your career?

I started working while I was still studying, managing to balance my academic commitments with a remote job opportunity in Milan. After six months of work experience at Deloitte. I was hired by adesso Schweiz, where I am still employed. My university education proved to be very helpful: the skills I acquired, with a very practical focus, have been extremely useful in the workplace, allowing me to confidently tackle the challenges and responsibilities of my role.

Why did you choose a career at adesso Schweiz?

I chose to work at adesso because it offered me the opportunity to engage with diverse industries and experiment with a huge of technologies. It’s a fantastic company with an excellent work-life balance and a strong commitment to employee well-being. I saw adesso as the right path for my career, a company that would allow me to grow personally and professionally.

What is your current role/duties?

My role involves developing good software technologies for various clients, currently using low-code technologies. I am working with BPMN low code platforms, that I had the opportunity to study in-depth during a university course. My work involves helping clients achieve their goals and supporting them throughout the software development process.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career at adesso Schweiz?

In my opinion, to build a career in the company, it’s essential to demonstrate the ability to respond to client needs promptly and efficiently, creating a relationship of genuine trust. Showing skill and a strong willingness to contribute is crucial.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

The best aspect of my studies at USI was the practical approach of the study, which allowed me to directly apply what I learned to real-world work situations. This hands-on experience helped me recognize and implement what I had studied. Additionally, the high quality of the academic offerings was invaluable.

What competences and skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

The skills that have been most useful to me include the use of software versioning tools during my studies, the courses on BPMN, the projects completed using agile methodology, and the fully developed software projects. Additionally, I gained the ability to write code and algorithms, which was distributed across all my courses.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

I would suggest having confidence in what you have learned and not feeling like there is a significant gap between your studies and work. The gap is often smaller than what people make it out to be.
