Here the story of Marco Dell'Acqua, Head Sales & Advisory Specialists WM Ticino at UBS in Lugano. USI Degrees: Master in Banking and Finance, 2014 and Bachelor in Economics 2012.
How did you start your career?
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences and a Master’s in Banking and Finance, Marco began the Graduate Training Program (GTP) at UBS in 2014, gaining cross-functional skills in the banking sector. During his studies and in the preceding years, he gained significant experience at UBS, Credit Suisse, and Vontobel Europe AG, deepening his knowledge of financial markets and wealth management. Upon completing the GTP, he started a two-year experience in Zurich as a Client Advisor Affluent, returning to Ticino in 2018 to take on the role of Client Advisor WM CH. In the last years in this position Marco has expanded his responsibilities as Deputy Desk Head in the Private Wealth South Ticino, demonstrating leadership and a strong aptitude for strategic client management.
As of 1 October 2025, Marco holds the position of Head Sales & Advisory Specialists WM Ticino and is a member of the Management Committee WMCH Ticino.
What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?
Regional network and the opportunity to gain work experience during your studies. This is essential for developing a practical perspective in addition to a theoretical one, and even more important for building a network of mentors and professionals who have the chance to appreciate your skills before you finish your studies.
Small class sizes that provide direct access to professors, who often also have experience or roles in the private sector. Their advice has been invaluable.
