Think Swiss Research Scholarship for 2025

The ThinkSwiss program, managed by the Science Office at the Swiss Embassy in Washington, D.C., and funded by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), aims to promote research opportunities in Switzerland for U.S. and Canadian students. The program facilitates exchange between Swiss, U.S., and Canadian institutions.

Deadline

Scholarship recipients are notified by February 15, 2025, and must accept by February 25, 2025.
 

Eligibility

• Applicants must be:
  • Enrolled at an accredited U.S. or Canadian university/college.
  • Graduate students or undergraduate students who have completed their sophomore year.
  • Able to provide written confirmation from a professor at a Swiss university willing to host their research stay.
  • Compliant with specific duration and recognition requirements at ETH Zurich if applicable.

Funding and duration

• Recipients receive CHF 1,800 per month (approx. USD 1,800) for 2-3 months (CHF 5,400 maximum).
• Additional funding is allowed but must not delay the scheduled research period.

Timeline of the call

Research stays can be scheduled between May 1, 2025, and December 1, 2025, with the start date no later than December 1, 2025.
Most students typically plan their stays during the summer months.
