Swissuniversities has launched a new call for projects in the Swiss Open Science programme II, a series of calls for projects within the framework of the application of the Action Plan for the Swiss National Open Research Data strategy.

Track A: Explore projects encompasses early-phase exploration as well as the testing and prototyping of a potential Open Research Data practice. This call aims to support projects and research communities in the early exploratory phases of implementing ORD practices. The call is addressed to projects that aim (1) to explore ORD practices in disciplines that are not yet active in this field, (2) to determine whether and how cooperation between science and international organisations can be encouraged using Open Science principles and practices, and (3) to develop sustainable ORD practices and foster exchange between research communities

 

Call Timeline and Funding

Deadline: 2 March 2025 23:59 CET

Decision: June 2025

Earliest start: 1 July 2025

Latest end: 31 July 2026

Budget: up to CHF 200’000 in federal funding per project. The rule of Matching Funds applies.

 

Matching Funds and Institutional Support

Swissuniversities calls adopt the rule of Matching Funds: higher education institutions are required to cover at least 50% of the total project costs from their own resources for the entire duration of the project. Own contributions may take the form of financial and in-kind contributions. The own financial contribution in real money must be at least 50% of the federal contribution.

Project applicants must have received explicit approval from USI before they submit their project proposal. Project applications must be signed by the president or rector of all participating higher education institutions.
