To help current students and recent graduates navigate the world of work, several USI Alumni shared their career paths and career story. Here the story of Elena Zoino, Equity Investment Specialist in Nordea Asset Management in Luxembourg. USI Degree: Master in Economics, 2023.

How did you start your career?

After completing all the courses of the Master in Economics at USI, I started to look for an internship in the financial industry. In July 2023 I started as a Trainee in the Investment Products Team at Nordea Asset Management, one of the largest asset managers in the Nordics with a global presence in Europe, the Americas and Asia. After 6 months I got the offer for a permanent position as an Equity Investment Specialist.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

The experience at USI was really enriching for me.

So, If I could go back in time, would I make the same choice? The answer is a strong yes.

The Master in Economic made me strengthen my knowledge base in Economics, and it also allowed me to develop very useful skills in data science. I really loved the interactive lectures and the close relationship with all the professors.
On top of that, the possibility to be in contact with people from all over the world and working on group projects with them was truly stimulating for me.

I will always have great memories from the master and the time I spent in Lugano. There I can say I grew up from a professional and especially a personal point of view thanks to the top professors I had and the amazing colleagues, that are still friends!
