Information session for staff mobility
Servizio relazioni internazionali e mobilità
11 Dicembre 2018
On December 11, the International Relations and Study Abroad Service invited all USI administrative staff to an Information Session to raise awareness about the opportunities for staff mobility within the SEMP framework.
Very often, mobility is perceived as an activity exclusively dedicated to bachelor and master students, or PhD and researchers. It is not always clear that the SEMP agreement provides funds in support of training periods for administrative staff as well.
What is staff mobility? How does it work? What are the requisites?
Staff mobility is an opportunity to gain new knowledge, learn best practices and exchange ideas and challenges with fellow colleagues, while experiencing new cultures and work environments at a European university. There are different ways to do it: be it a Staff training week, a course, or a job-shadowing period, the menu is rich and can accommodate most needs. Staff Training Weeks are normally organized over one week, whereas courses and workshops may vary in length. Job-shadowing, a more personalized option, can be tailor-made on the needs of the candidate.
Currently, USI receives funds from the Swiss National Agency Movetia to allow four staff members per year to benefit from these offers. All offers are regularly published on the Mobility Billboard page of the Service. (https://www.usi.ch/en/mobility-billboard).
As explained during the session, employees who have not yet used this opportunity will be given priority, subject to authorization from the Head of Service or the Administrative Director. The pertinence of the training with the activity carried out at USI will also be evaluated.
The Information Session concluded with three testimonials from Ilaria Juon and Dimitri Loringett, who attended a Staff Training Week, and from Elisa Larghi, who hosted a colleague from Greece for a job-shadowing week.
