In order to help current students and recent graduates to find their way in the working world, many of our alumni shared their career story. Here the story of Alessandra Ronzoni, Head of Human Resources in Aptar Pharma in Mezzovico (CH). USI Degree: Master in Management, 2015.

How did you start your career?

I started my career just after my graduation in 2015 when I joined Gucci Talent Acquisition team for an internship program. After one year I got a job at Bally where I acquired a deep knowledge of the Human Resources processes. In this period I also attended a specific training to obtain a Swiss certification in Human Resources.
After 4 year experience in the fashion field, I took the opportunity to discover a different industry, the Pharma one. In 2019 I was hired by Aptar as HR Generalist and after one year I was promoted to the role of Head of Human Resources.

Why did you choose a career in Aptar Pharma?

I chose Aptar because the Pharma industry always attracted me and I am pleased to be part of a company who produces devices for personal health and care. Moreover, since the very beginning, I have been fascinated by the solid culture and the core values of the company as well as people working at it.

What is your current role/duties?

Leading the Human Resources team of Aptar Mezzovico, I am responsible to develop, implement and maintain all Human Resources policies, processes, programs in alignment with the group strategy and objectives and ensuring the partnership with the business.

In your opinion, what are the qualities necessary for a successful career in Aptar Pharma?

Besides solid technical competencies, a set of soft skills are of primary importance. Leadership, proactivity, initiative, flexibility and ability to adapt to change are key.

What positive aspects and qualities meant most to you during the study programme you attended?

The international environment of the university, including the possibility to attend a semester abroad, gave me the possibility to get in contact with people with different backgrounds and cultures. Moreover, I appreciated a lot also the connection of the university with local and international companies.

What competences and/or skills acquired in your USI Study Program have been useful/are useful to your professional career?

Above all I acquired a strong methodology that helps me on different fields, including managing multiple deadlines and team working within an international environment.

What is your advice to USI students entering the job market?

Be curious and willing to learn. Love what you do and enjoy your work because it's part of your life!
