SNSF - Belmont Forum: Africa-led call for proposals on climate change

The SNSF is part of the Belmont Forum, a global group of funders that promote international transdisciplinary research on global environmental change. Thus, Swiss-based researchers are eligible to apply to the newest Belmont Forum call for proposals: the Africa Regional Call ARC (2024).

Eligibility

• Max. 1 Swiss-based researcher per consortium
• Same eligibility rules as Project Funding: at least PhD+4y or independent position; min. 50% employment rate; able to carry out the project independently.
• This grant does NOT count towards the max. 3-grant limit per applicant.

Eligibility of the consortium

• Led by African scientists and stakeholders.
• At least 3 senior researchers from at least 3 different participating countries;
• At least 2 African countries;
• At least 1 non-academic partner;
• At least 1 natural scientist, 1 social scientist and 1 stakeholder.

Funding and duration

• Max CHF 300’000 for 3 years covered by the SNSF.
• SNSF expects to fund approx. 4 projects.
 

Timeline of the call

Deadline for Letter of Intent: 31 July 2024
Deadline for Registration (mandatory): 31 August 2024, 20:00 UTC
Deadline for full proposals: 31 December 2024
Parallel application on the Belmont Forum platform and mySNF.
